Is it possible to apply for a spring transfer while not being enrolled at any college?

I am currently enrolled as an undergrad at UCLA. I just completed my first year, and have ultimately decided that I would like to transfer to another school. I have been looking into spring transfer programs, as I have already missed the deadline for a fall transfer and would like to transfer as soon as possible. However, I would really prefer to not return to UCLA this coming fall. I have all of the necessary credits to transfer, so I do not necessarily need the fall quarter at UCLA to finish any transfer credit requirements. I would withdraw from UCLA as soon as possible, not be enrolled at any college for the “fall semester,” and would enroll in my transfer school in the spring.

My question is: Is it possible to apply for a spring transfer while not being enrolled at any college? If it is allowed, will it look bad on a transfer application?

You cannot transfer to another UC campus. The new school may want to know what you plan to do in the fall, especially if it is a selective school.

I was at the University of Florida and decided to not return for spring semester and still transferred out for this upcoming fall. Not sure why it would be a problem.

I just made sure to explain what I was doing while I was not in college and it all worked out fine. I do not think it looks bad at all, as long as you are not doing nothing with your semester off.

Is it possible for you to take a leave of absence from UCLA? I took a leave of absence from my old college this semester and applied to other colleges for the spring, and it worked out fine.
