I took the PSAT and got a 174... i was devastated because I have a 4.0 in all APs, endless leadership positions, etc and now im just ready to give up on everything ive worked so hard for...is it still possible to get over a 2100 on my SAT?

bump .

Try the ACT. My kids found it much easier than the ACT (and they found the PSAT easier than the actual SAT.)

Try ACT!

Some people do better on ACT.

Also, you can improve on math and writing section by studying one or two prep books.

yes it is very possible if you study a lot i did only slightly better than you and got around a 2100

Yes, definitely. Just don’t quit.

bump .

Um, you’re giving up because you had a 174 on your PSAT?? PSAT has almost no bearing on college admission whatsoever. Besides, I have a friend who had a 170 something on her PSAT in her sophomore year and then a 2300 on her SAT at the end of her junior year. Search past CC threads on this subject; you’ll find that this kind of score increase do happen to a lot of people. It’s very possible.

I had a friend who had a 190 something on her PSATs, then a 1780 on the first SAT, and finally a 2060 on her last SAT. These scores can jump all over the place depending on how you study, so don’t give up.

my friend went from 188 psat in junior year, freaked out, studied like crazy and got it up to a 2320 SAT.
