I applied to UCSD as a Biochemistry/Chemistry major into Revelle College, but I regret not applying to an engineering major at the Jacobs School. I looked at their different majors and Bioengineering seems the most suitable for me. I was wondering if it is at all possible for me to transfer into it even though it's impacted. Say a student drops out of that major and there is an open spot... is there a waiting list or any way for someone else to get that spot?

(at this point, there’s nothing you can do except excel at all your classes and hope for the best. there’s no “through the back door” approach.)

Yes, you can!
We are actually very alike! I came into UCSD as a biochem/chem major last year and considered switching into the impacted bioe major (decided engineering wasn’t for me… probably going to switch into an impacted bio major). Basically, you need to complete all the LDs for the major and then apply. I believe there is a specific time frame to fill out the application so inquire of that. Excel in your classes, because they only admit the top 10 applicants (10 people, not 10% of applicants) who apply from different majors every year based on the overall GPA of your grades in the LD major courses. The person told me on the phone that the average GPA for people who are admitted ~3.7 so aim for all A’s. Good luck!
