Is it possible to do both?

Is it possible to be a spanish major and fulfill the requirements for medical school to become a doctor?

You can go to med school with any major as long as you take the necessary prerequisites.

I know that but will i have enough room in my schedule?

There are only 5 required classes for admission to US medical school: General Chem, Organic Chem, General Biology, Physics and Calculus…plus the MCAT exam which tests your knowledge of these subjects and also includes a general knowledge section. Any major is acceptable as long as you complete these 5 classes. The hard part is doing the labs with the chem classes and bio class; labs eat up a lot of time. I doubled majored in English and Bio; my spouse was a Chemistry and Physics double major who minored in English. We both are medical professors. It was hard to double major but I had a passion for my lit classes and made the schedule work…I also held a 15 h a week campus job. Made med school seem like a piece of cake after my busy undergrad days, but I’ll never again get to memorize the Kreb’s cycle while working on my MacBeth term paper!!! It is definitely worth it; you can do this if you are a motivated, organized student (and I don’t think you’d be on this forum if you weren’t). Good luck! And…a lot of med schools are stressing primary care these days so being fluent in Spanish is a plus.
