i want to do a biology major with an emphasis in neuroscience (or a neuroscience major, if the college has one) and also business with pre-med. doesn't biology cover most if not all of pre-med requirements anyway?
would it be a realistic goal to double major in biology & business and do pre-med at the same time?

it depends on where. You should be able to. Id say try and if it doesnt work, drop one

would it be manageable if i did do both? i think it’s safe to say that biology & pre-med have pretty much the same classes. so it would just be like a biology & business double major

If you are coming into college with a good number of AP, IB, or dual enrollment credits that will cover most/all of your General Ed/Core Req’ts, then you should be able to do both and still graduate on time. Usually, it’s not a good idea to rely on AP/IB credits for the pre-med req’ts because some med schools won’t accept them, so then a student either retakes the courses or takes the higher level courses.

Yes, as a bio major, most (if not all) of the pre-med req’ts should be included (you need to check to make sure). Usually, pre-med requires 2 semesters of Biology, 2 semesters of General Chemistry, 2 semesters of Organic Chem, 1 or 2 semesters of Physics, and 1 or 2 semesters of Calculus. Often labs are req’d. However, your school may have different recommendations, so check.

If you find that you can’t fit in both, you might want to do one as a minor.

While biology major is very very intense, neuroscience classes are somewhat easier, business might be intense and might be not depending on specialty. If it is accounting, it is very intense, Information systems will take hours in computer lab, I do not know about management, marketing, economics, finance. You need to look at graduation requirements and discuss them with advisor at your college. I have MBA (Information Systems), D. is Zoology major (close to Bio) and was almost done with Neuroscience minor, but had to drop it because of additional requirements of one Med. School on her list. However, she will complete Music Composition minor. She had lighter academic schedules in Junior year (because of prep. for MCAT) and will have it light in senior year, since she does not have that many classes left to take. She did not take single summer class, has very high GPA and decent MCAT. So, here is an example for you of what is possible. Also, you will need medical EC’s and most UGs have jobs.

i wanted to do a major in something like economics, i don’t think that’s in the business department at most colleges though. but what about a minor in economics with a major in biology or neuroscience? manageable in your opinion?
i’ve been hearing many bad things about double majors in science & economics/business so i won’t major in both.

At my school, it is almost impossible to double major in those two and finish in 4 years… If you did want to do that, you’d have to lock yousrelf down and take heavy loads every quarter, almost to the point where if you wanted a good GPA out of it, you wouldn’t have much time for any other EC’s or MCAT studies.

Personally, I am a Biology major and a management science minor (more managing economics) and I’m going to finish in four years just fine.

yeah i’ve decided that i’m going to major in neuroscience or biology with emphasis in neurscience & minor in either business or economics. is management offered through the business school or another division in the college?
