is it possible to double major in cornell?

hi
i wanna do engineering and business together
i know they are unrelated so i was wondering if this could be possible at cornell.
if not, at least minor in one of the area maybe.
btw i got into college of engineering so i just wanted to know to help me choose which university i shall attend

Yes, you can double major. I believe (not sure) it has to be in the same college though.

I’ve think you can only double major within the same college
[Double Major](http://as.cornell.edu/academics/major-minor/double-major.cfm)

you can’t double major across colleges unless it’s a dual degree program and even then it’s only btwn the endowed colleges.

you CAN, however, double major within your own college - so if you want to do engineering and business, you could do whatever engineering major you were going to do + ORIE (which is essentially business but lots more math and quant stuff)

You can do a minor in business in CALS: [Applied Economics and Management/Cornell](<a href=“Applied Economics and Management Degree Program | Cornell Dyson”>Applied Economics and Management Degree Program | Cornell Dyson)

I think countryangel926’s suggestion would be the best, because your business experience would be designed with engineers in mind, and by only having a minor, you’d still be able to focus on the engineering courses and finish in four years.

I don’t know why an engineer would want more of a “business education.” The skills you will learn through those classes you will learn at the first job you ever hold.

The quantitative skills and logical problem-solving you learn and mold through Cornell Engineering are more than sufficient to beast any “undergrad business” majors.

Not that I have any intentions of doing this, but can you double major and dual degree, so you end up with say a B.A. in Econ and Govt (or maybe just a minor) and a B.S. in Computer Science? Just curious.

You could do all three actually. CS is offered by the College of Engineering and by the College of Arts and Sciences, so you could do all 3 in CAS if you really wanted to.

In a similar way, you can double major in engineering and business if you were a BioE major in CALS.

So you’ll graduate with something like an A.B. (Econs, CS and Gov’t). As several current college students will tell you, having more degrees/majors/concentrations/minors doesn’t translate into any sort of direct advantage because you’re trading something (usually depth) for the breadth.
