I thought that I saw some where that a Sonoma State student was taking classes that were hard to get there at Santa Rosa Junior College and then transferring them back to Sonoma State. So, I was wondering if this is common with other CSUs and CCCs, such as CSUN and LA Pierce College, which is a CCC that is less than 7 miles from CSUN.
For example, my daughter, who is a Junior in High School, wants to eventually go to Vet School. She’s considering schools with Animal Science programs like CPP (which she may or may not get admitted to) and other schools with just Biology programs like CSUN. I saw that Pierce College, http://www.piercecollege.edu/departments/agriculture/preveterinary.asp advertises they have been successful with getting many of their Pre-Vet students into Vet School with just 75 units (about 2.5 years of school). (They do note that this no longer works for UCD, because they now require a BS, but the other 29 Vet Schools do not require a BS).
Anyhow, Pierce College does not have dorms, and since we’re from NorCal, it would be tough for D to transition into college without the support of dorms and a meal plan. So, I was wondering if its possible for her to take about 12 units a semester at CSUN, while taking about 1-3 units at Pierce. It probably wouldn’t save us any money, but she be able to take many hands-on animal-related courses, such as Equine courses http://www.piercecollege.edu/departments/agriculture/equine.asp (i’m assuming that CSUN does not have hands-on animal related courses).
Another alternative may be for her to only take classes at CSUN her 1st year with the support of dorms and a meal plan, and then, if she’s ready to live off campus, take classes at both Pierce and CSUN.
Is this possible? Any difficulties that I should be aware of?
