...is it possible to get a decision after ONE WEEK?

They confirmed receipt of everything last week (12/7) over the phone...I have not received e-mail notification 4 yet...and yet today I get an e-mail from mich.admissions.2007@umich.edu saying I'm accepted. Is this a joke? A mistake? I'm so confused, and without a Wolverine account I have no way to check it!

Call and ask.

Ugh, I wish I could now/tomorrow but of COURSE it has to be Friday after the admissions office closes.

Anyone else have an opinion in the days before Monday?

It is very possible, probably because of a combination of the strength of your application and the timing in which it was received; they might have put in in with the last "batch" to go out.

They went paperless this year, which means that the readers are no longer physically moving folders around. That means it's possible for two or three readers to get your application read in a week. If your application was very strong, then your review might have been further expedited.

It's unusual, but not unheard of. Congratulations.

I am not sure where my reply went. Sorry if this double-posts.

It's indeed possible. They went to 100% paperless review this year, which eliminates the delay they used to have while readers had to physically return application folders to OUA and have their ratings entered before it could go out to the next reader. Now it's possible for 2 or 3 readers to all see it in the same week. If you had a very strong application, it may also have been expedited.

So it's not common, but entirely possible. Congratulations.

i got accepted within two weeks (surprisingly) last year, so since this year they went paperless, its very possible

Ok, thanks for the comfort and support, guys. Thanks!

My app was completed over a month before the OP's and nothing. Nothing.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Does anyone else remember if they got an e-mail before their acceptance letter?

btw, at this point, it wont take 1 week, or even 1 month. ull prolly get an answer in a couple months, and no, wolverine acces says ur decision before the email.

uofm, um...the point of this topic is that it apparently did take 1 week for me, and before a wolverine access account was even issued to me.

haha sry my bad, but wow thats impressive, u prolly wanna call them up on monday to confirm ur acceptance.

Can anyone else confirm having gotten an e-mail of their decision to alleviate my fears before Monday?

Yeah, I got an email first; the next day I got the acceptance letter in the mail (but I live in Ann Arbor, so if you don't, it might take longer to recieve the letter).

sry to be annoying, but i dont get the concept of "paperless" what does that mean???????

means its all done online/by computer... no printed papers involved.

It means that they scan all the parts of your application (like the transcript and recs, in addition to your app if you didn't submit it via the web to begin with) and the folks who read your app can access a virtual "folder" of all your stuff from wherever they are, at any time. And they can submit their evaluation of your candidacy online, too.

They used to physically check out an actual folder of all your stuff in it, and go sit down and read it somewhere and write out, in longhand, your evaluation, which would then be entered by someone when they returned your folder.

woww your stats must be very strong. just out of curiousity, what are they?
