Is it possible to get direct admit from an appeal?

I was wondering if I can possibly get direct admit into a major at UW if i get accepted through appeal

What is the basis for your appeal?

I mentioned how important the CS program is to me, and why I believe I need to be at UW because of an upcoming internship that is dependent on the completion of UW CSE 142. Also, I mentioned my connections with UW and how i continually went to outreach conferences

@TomSrOfBoston

@selxx23, you may have presented a compelling appeal for admission to UW, but it is unlikely that an appeal would result in direct admission to CS.

The department’s website states:

“For 2017, fewer than 3% of UW freshman applicants who listed Computer Science or Computer Engineering as their first-choice major were offered Direct Admission; these students had an average unweighted GPA of 3.97; average test scores of ACT 34, SAT Math 764, and SAT Verbal 758; took a rigorous high school curriculum; provided evidence of meaningful extracurricular activities; submitted strong personal statements; and were mostly Washington residents.”

Good luck with your appeal (and hopefully, successful completion of UW CSE 142)!

@UWfromCA yea I am a washington resident and i was hoping that getting an acceptance to the school through appeal limits my overall chances for direct admit

Disagreement with the admission decision is generally not a compelling reason for appeal. The majority of successful appeals (at any school) are based on new, significant academic achievements.

Were any of these reasons discussed in your application?
