Is it possible to get into SCS, but not CIT?

Just wondering, have you guys heard of this happening to anyone, and do you think it's likely or even possible? As I understand, the core "requirements" for both schools are very similar: passion for mathematics and technology, high grades, test scores, ECs, all with special focus on those two areas as well. However, SCS seems to be more competitive than CIT, judging by the acceptance rates and statistics. So, could it happen that a student who applied to both schools would be rejected from the less selective CIT, but accepted to SCS?

From what I’ve read online and what I was told at the campus tour, it definitely seems possible. Although getting accepted into the less competitive school seems more likely, the decisions are all made separately by school. So if SCS sense more of a passion or interest than CIT does, it could definitely turn out that way. The whole process is very holistic so it can seem a bit illogical in ways like that. Hope that helps!

Thanks, that makes sense. I’m actually kinda scared of that happening for me. My supplement focused on my passion for comp sci, but I’m afraid it didn’t address the rest of engineering too well… But hey, as long as it helps my chances for SCS, it’s worth it.

Yeah, it’s a somewhat difficult task to show your interests in multiple schools and majors within one supplement without taking from the others. I struggled with it as well. But I imagine most people do so I’m sure they’re used to it
