Is it possible to go from 570 to 700 on Critical Reading

I use to have a 420 on critical reading. Now I improve by 150 points because of reviewing vocab words and going through answers. But I heard from others that it's impossible to raise more than 200 points on one section. Is this true? Is 570 my best? Also I'm planning to take my first SAT during winter, not sure which date yet, haven't made up my mind. So anyways, should I continue studying or should I just stop because it's useless? I really want a 700 at least and I'm not sure if I can do it.

It is absolutely possible! I know people who’ve increased their scores by 300-400 points too. Continue to review vocab (at least ~50 words a day) and read! Read A LOT! Good luck! :)

^ok but i have another question. I always have trouble with long passages so I have to read slowly and thoroughly in order to understand. Am I supposed to be doing this or am I supposed to just kinda skim it to get the idea?

If you haven’t looked at Noitaraperp you should do that… It raised my CR from 570 to 700 within like… 2 months…

It certainly is possible, I’ve seen it done. There is a lot more to critical reading than to simply just read a lot. Take the practice test and do it very slowly with an exhaustive analysis of every question. Go over every answer and determine precisely why it is or isn’t correct. Write it down if you aren’t seeing an improvement.

Everything we read is filtered by our perceptions, past experiences and intensity of focus. The secret is clearing that all out of our mind so that every passage is read with near perfect objectivity and uniform attention. Once this is achieved the error rate should be less than 2%.

OMG the same thing happens to me right now. I’ve been constantly scoring around 470 - 540 range on my CR, are there any ways for me to boost my score to like 580 - 600 range?

I’m going to become a sophomore soon and will be taking my 1st SAT this spring.

I actually got my psat score of CR of 570 at end of soph year to now as a starting junior to 700 flat

I got a 560 first time i tested, and a 670 the next time (from 22 mistakes to 10 mistakes, attempting all questions). I just went back and carefully reviewed bluebook tests, checking why an answer was right and why the other 4 were wrong. That really helped me out, I guess, and I’m very happy with my score, even though I was aiming for a 700+. Aim for a ~700 and you could get 650+, I’m sure! :)

My daughter raised her CR score from 560 to 740 from Jan. to June. Really did no prep other than BB practice tests the week before to get herself more familiar and comfortable with the test. (She took it completely cold in Jan.) Good luck!

Absolutely possible. A 570 means you don’t really know vocab–vocab alone could probably get you to the 650-700 range!

There is no reason to take the SAT before the spring of your junior year. Every year of history/english/math you have under your belt, the better you’ll do on the test.
