Ok so I am currently a psych major that's very financially poor and is thinking very seriously about obtaining an A.S. in Information Technology and then later going back and taking classes to obtain the prerequisites for a degree in electrical engineering. I have to make a decision now because I am about to obtain my A.A. in psych and it's almost time for me to transfer to a university. However, I have basically learned that the bachelor's in psychology is worth about as much as a stick of bubblegum without a graduate degree to couple it.

So now I have decided to pursue a career in technology instead. My original plan was to just go back and get a bachelor's in EE. However, I was told by my college advisor today that my financial aid is drying up and they will only pay for 150% of a degree. They told me that financial aid wouldn't cover all the prerequisites for an engineering degree. However, the financial aid would indeed kick back in once I got my A.A. and they would start covering me again when I got my bachelor's.

I mean, I guess I could take out loans and everything but it would be about another 4 years before I even graduate. Personally I really feel like I can't wait that long to begin a career. I am already almost a 24 year old man with no job and feel like a loser. I need to start working....seriously! Is this a poor idea to get an A.S. in I.T. first and then go back and get the bachelor's?
