Is it possible to have a life and a 4.0?

I have a 3.8 unweighted and I run my school

Someone must have been searching for the terms “4.0” and “a life”.

Easily, if your school is easy. Even if you take the hardest schedule possible.

@djyoungqueef Big difference between a 3.8 and a 4.0

Really depends on the school & course load. At my school, if you take a decently rigorous course load with a couple extracurriculars, it’s not really possible. But it is possible with a 3.8/3.9. I have no idea why, but I think the extra effort to get a perfect 4.0 takes up a ridiculous amount of time.

Also depends on the person and their strengths. If you’re really good at science and fill your schedule up with science classes, you could probably get a 4.0 and have a life.

@ctgirl628 it depends on the high-ranked public; mine, as a general thing, doesn’t have very good teachers and it has horrible facilities.

And at my school, depends on the person/luck with teachers. Many people do manage to do both (although only 20-ish people a year get a 4.0), but it sucks the soul out of them and they end up compromising on sleep. I’m really going to get into that next year. So far this year, though, I’ve managed to; last year, I didn’t, but my non-4.0 last year had nothing to do with extracurriculars and everything to do with me making stupid mistakes.

If you take easy classes, sure. With hard classes, it’s all about time management.

@pologirl13 You can’t do ECs, stack 6 APs and “manage time” to get a 4.0.

@Anish14 It depends on the school. At some schools, it’s impossible to take a certain number of AP classes; and some schools have easy AP courses (people at some schools take 7 APs, while at other schools, people of the same caliber take only 3 or 4). There are a lot of factors that go into time management.

@topaz1116 I agree with what you’re saying, but it’s just not realistic. Even the biggest book worms must have some fun time. Finding great interest in a class is completely different from grinding for 2 classes you like and 4 others that you would hate (for me it’s English) to get that rank and a great college. As a guy, I have a lot more distraction too lol

I’m in 6 APs, have a few ECs that I’m dedicated to (debate sucks up a lot of time, haha), and have a 4.0. My school is a competitive public. Granted, some of my grades have dropped this year a little, but I’m still managing to pull a 4.0 and I’d like to say I do have a life.

Is it possible? Of course.

Is it ridiculously hard sometimes? Yeah, definitely.
