Is it possible to live in a dorm without an AC?

I've only been to NYC twice in my life and have been born and bred in Houston, which is the most air-conditioned city in the world. So when I saw that some dorms don't have AC I was shocked. Is it possible to live in dorms without ACs comfortably in spring/fall?

Yes, it is. I've heard from an RA friend that you really only need the AC during the first few weeks of September, so bring a fan. :D

haha i'm from texas too (austin)... i share your fear.

alright i dont want to start a new thread for this cause im sure someone here knows the answer...

I dont want to create a login or anything with my NYU id becuase i dont want to get to excited about NYU and then figure out it costs way too much and go to UT. So, I have blinded myself from some of the information due to this. One question I had was how does the signup for housing as a freshman take place. I was wondering this becuase I am interested in the low-cost options at NYU and i want to know if it is first come first serve, so then I can make my decision whether i want to go to NYU a little bit faster or if they process takes place after May 1st.

i'm not sure how the housing sign up happens, i'm sure its in the acceptance packet they gave us.

i'm trying to decide between UT and NYU too :-/ hardest decision ever!!! i'm visiting NYU in about a week and half though, so i better figure it out then.
