In Letters&Science. My friend told me that the max that they'll let you have after you petition is 22 units, but is there any way to take 23? Thanks for any help.

geez... for your personal sanity i hope not!
the most i ever tried was 21, so i have no idea about 23... if i may ask why you're trying for 23?
if they let you do it... good luck to you!

Are you trying to graduate... now?

"Are you trying to graduate... now?"

ROFLMAO :)

Yes you can go past 22- you just have to go to window 2 at Murphy next to the counselors office

unless you know that you will have to almost literally spend almost the entire week for an entire quarter just studying, then it would be downright stupid to take 23 units

Well I know for sure that 2 out of the 5 classes I'm trying to take will be a breeeeze, which is why I'm trying to do it.

how do you "know"?

besides, wouldnt you like to be more involved in campus events or extra curricular activities? 5 classes is ridiculous. 4 seems okay

20ish units seemed pretty hardcore in community college under the semester system. 23 units under the quarters system is woaaaaaah.

Plus you're risking a hit to the GPA with so many units...

PXalpine,

Maybe you won't listen to your fellow students, but you might listen to an alumnus.

Don't do it. It's just not worth it.

I don't care how quickly you want to graduate, how much you want to study, and how much you want to impress people that quite frankly will never notice your 23 unit nightmare-- it's not worth it.

You're much better off taking fewer courses and doing an internship than you are studying an insane amount just to stroke your ego. Look, employers and grad schools will both be more interested in how you get involved on-campus and the things you do outside of class. If you're this sure that you'll have free time, then you might want to ask a professor to let you help out with a project. Or maybe you can start looking for internships for the coming summer. Heck, you might even be able to find time to do EAP and spend some time abroad.

23 units, however, will do absolutely nothing for you in the short or long run. Take it from an alum and grad student-- it's NOT worth it.

hey dude, just wanted to give up some of my experience for what it'll be taken for

i'm in engr and taking 21 units right now, which is the max over here...without petition...and ummm well yeah, there really isn't any time for anything other than classes though i do have time for a part-time job as well...all within the weekdays too...come weekends, i'm doing a massive amount of NOTHING....anywaysssss the large amount of units is really tough...my GPA is suffering like a #(&^#@, but i really wouldn't have it any other way....so do what you want to because once you're set on something it doesn't matter what i or anyone else will say (at least, that's how it was for me =P)....but just keep your actions in mind....oh yeah, and before transferring over here i took a steady 23/24 units per semester at community college..most ever was 26 and that wasn't even freakin legal hahahaha...i was doing 24 i think in the documentation but another 2 as an mech engr design class on the side which we thought i would get credit for but didn't because of class time overlap (go figure...) so i finished the class that same semester but got credit later on...anyways...** i'm still typing

I probably think that 20+ is a lot even in community college because I was working 40 hours a week (2-7 AM on school days and 2AM to 12 PM on days off). :(

If your GPA is suffering, I'm not quite sure why you wouldn't have it any other way.
