Say I want to live on campus. Is there a way I could make arrangements with the school to kind of "tour" the residences to get a feel to see what the on campus housing is like?

Thanks,

During the general tour I had of the school I go to now, they showed a typical freshman dorm. From what I’ve read and heard, this is common. You can also go to the residential life website and see if they have diagrams/pictures of the rooms in the various dorms.

There are virtual tours of dorm rooms but it’s the mix of people that gives it flavor.
Perhaps when you get accepted to your colleges you can arrange an overnight visit to them.

Yep. It depends on the school, though.

But at USC, you can schedule a tour of any dorm and during huge Open House days they actually open up almost every dorm for a tour. It helped me decide on where I wanted to live. Virtual tours don’t do much.

Today was actually an open house and there were a bunch of people coming through my dorm this morning.

Yes. At my school, though, if you want a tour, you have to check in with Student Housing first. Today’s Preview Day at my school, and people can get a tour of the residence dorms (though they can only tour the rooms that people have volunteered for people to see).
