i mean if i start studying now...my ACT comp is 30 :( second time i got a 29 because i got lazy and didn't study, which was really, really stupid. on the second test, each of my scores went down one point except for english, where i improved from 34 to 35.

there's also the fact that i've learned a lot more math since the june date. i was supposed to take it in september and october, but i ended up not being able to on both dates for different reasons, which absolutely SUCKS.

i really need to get a higher score to get more merit money, so i'm really, really desperate. should i just study/focus on math and science? do you have any science, math, or reading tips??

Also, for the reading sections, I find it really helpful if I whisper passages to myself. It helps me retain the information and I hardly ever have to refer back to the passaes. I finished the reading with 3-5 minutes left over by using this strategy, and I’m fairly confident I did well.

The good news is that the math and science are the ones easiest to improve on
through practice. Read through the posts from the past 6 months here under
the ACT section and you will find lots of tips to try out. I think the most important
thing is for you to do practice timed tests using those different tips and see which
ones work best for you. We borrowed the Barrons 36 book and the red act practice
test book from the library. I would suggest after doing both of those, that you
then find another practice test book to try because it seems like the tests now
are harder than the ones in the red book. And if you are serious about working
hard at it, you can do it. But start now!
