is it possible to raise my SAT score?

I'm a sophomore going on junior. This year I took the PSAT in october and got 218 (71 math, 69 CR, 780 Writing) which is pretty good, but when I took the SAT for the first time in May I only got 2150 (CR 680, Math 760, Writing 710). The essay really dragged me down (I got an 8). I didn't really improve my score from PSAT to SAT and lots of ppl say that it's really hard to raise ur SAT score, esp. if it's already above 2000. If i work hard over the summer, is it possible to raise my score by 100 pts? Sometimes i feel like i've peaked. I've been at the SAT thing since I was in 7th grade. Should i ditch it and go on to ACT? Since i'm pretty good at math.

Your SAT score is good but you can retake it, unless you really think you might score lower the second time. Through practice you can definitely bump your essay up a couple points from and 8, and maybe improve your CR score. But if you feel you’ve reached your potential on the test then don’t bother.
With the ACT the Reading section is MUCH EASIER than the SAT CR, in my opinion, so that might be a good option. But with ACT I feel that there’s a lot more time pressure, so that something to think about. And you should definitely check out silverturle’s guide, like MaryOC suggested.

I got a 213 as a sophomore on my PSAT (and a 2130 in my March sophomore SAT).

Then, I got a 220 on my junior PSAT (and my SAT score is a 2290 superscore).

And I’ve been familiar w/ the SAT from 7th grade (CTY stuff).

So, it’s very likely you can improve.

With a 2000+ theres no way to tell if you can go up. If you don’t go up, you are probably going to most likely go down. So be-careful.

it’s always possible, considering the element of luck
but i wouldn’t waste my time luck is all you think you have going for you

Yes it is, unless you’ve gotten a 2400.

That is all.

S1 got a 200 on PSAT as a jr, and then 2160 on SAT

S2 got a 200 on sophomore PSAT, 222 as jr, and then 2360 on SAT.

All they did was basic study book and practice tests.

So sure, it is very possible.
