Currently, my schedule conflicts with AP Physics C Mech, and I really want to take the course (I couldn't the year before due to scheduling conflict again). However, it seems that the only way I could get this class is if I take it independent study -- but is it possible to do well on the AP that way? I'm not very good with calculus unfortunately (I think I got a 1 on the BC exam.. but I do understand the basic aspects, lol) .. what do you think?

What do you mean by do well? If you took a calculus class and got a 1 on the test, you will probably have to push yourself pretty hard to independently study physics C and pass. I’m sure you could probably pass… but a 4 or 5? Not sure if it that’s very likely.

Alright, thanks for your advice :)

Yeah, me and calculus just don’t click, lol.

um… physics C is kindof calculus-in-action
but i guess for some ppl it makes more sense if you actually have a purpose for the math. mech was hard as mess this year though, so beware

yeah, the mech exam this year was chock full of calculus, especially the free responses

Physics C is very calculus-intensive. If you try to self-study it, I would recommend really pushing yourself in calc, though they really go hand-in-hand. Calc makes more sense with physics, and physics makes more sense with calc.

Alright, thanks for your replies!

I got a 1 in the BC Exam, but a 2 on the Subset… I’ve heard you just need to know the A set for Physics though?
