Is the work load going to be too much? I heard linear algebra is an insane amount of work, and I need good grades this semester (last semester wasn’t the greatest for me). I’m taking a 100 level language and a seemingly easy humanities
Talk to your advisor. A math and a stat class together is not unusual.
It is not an unusual class load. Just be well aware, as you seemingly are, Math 217 is very challenging. You’ll want to plan to go to office hours often.
I took math 217 last fall, and it is a class with one of the heaviest workloads I have ever experienced. Even the kids that are able to pull off A’s in that class agree that it is one of the most rigorous classes at the university (at least for math majors). I always tell people to take a relatively light semester around that class, but it really depends on your math ability. If you are extremely gifted in math, it will probably be very time consuming but doable to take stats 426 and math 217 at the same time. If you are more in the category of people that have to make up for what they lack in raw talent with extra time and energy (this is how I would classify myself), it might be a bit too much. As another suggested, talk to your academic advisor.
Thanks for the advice, I guess I won’t take them simultaneously!
How about Stats 413? How is the workload for that?
