UF and Harvard are two examples and there’s plenty more. They are following the new changes for students after 2011 and if I end up taking the new mcat, these will be the requirements. I’m mostly just concerned with courses I have to take before the mcat. Not worried about semesters/classes I can easily take my senior year.

If you are referring to schools that only require one semester of Org Chem I think you are misinformed. The majority of the schools are still requiring two semesters and are ADDING a semester of biochemistry, not replacing the second semester with biochemistry. If you doubt that, go to the list of schools and see how many don’t require the second semester.

See list of schools that recommend biochemistry.

My advice is to take the 2nd term of Org Chem and if you can work in your schedule taking both Biochemistry and Genetics as it will give you the broadest range of schools requirements or recommendations.

I would also not recommend deferring the 2nd semester of orgo until senior year if you’re taking the first semester as a sophomore. You’d be better off saving biochem for the end which is what all my friends who went to schools that required biochem did.

Well the second semester of OChem is a lot of carbonyl chemistry which you definitely need for the MCAT, so I would take it.
