Is it possible to transfer out of one Cornell school into another?

If accepted to the Engineering school and a student changes their mind about their major and wants to major in something that makes more sense in the Arts and Sciences school, is it possible to transfer?

Looking for a back door?

Not at all. Difficulty is not the issue in any sense and he was a good candidate for Arts and Sciences too. Just realized that to meet his goals, Engineering might not be the best track, although still very interested in it. Just wish the schools were more integrated so switching to another major would not be a big deal.

It’s not difficult, though he’s going to have to do at least one semester in Engineering before he can transfer and, obviously, post decent grades. Maybe he’ll even discover that it’s for him!
As you can see in the link above, CAS has a December 4th deadline to apply for an internal transfer plus a few requirements (including a rec letter from CAS faculty), so he’s going to have to get started pretty soon after he gets there if he wants to get it done for second semester.
EDIT: @ Ones–how would getting into ENG be a “back door?” It posts higher SAT scores and is generally considered to be as selective, if not more selective, than CAS. This is just a matter of shifting interests, which is pretty typical for 17 and 18 year olds.

Thank you, malan89! This is really helpful. Not sure why I couldn’t find this myself. He just wants options and this provides exactly that. Thank goodness. I was worried he would have to write off Cornell and that would be awful. Thank you!!

Well my friend got rejected for arts and science, but accepted to engineering…They told him he’d be better off in the engineering pool.
