Is it possible to go to community college for 1 year, then go to a UC for the next 3 years?

to transfer as a sophomore no .

But you can transfer as a junior in one year and you can take 3 years at a UC if you want to take your time.

As long as you complete 60+ units (with the prerequisites courses needed) you’ll be in junior standing. However, as @peterr86 stated you can’t spend a year at CC, and then the last 3 at a UC.

The thread below is for people who have attempted to try to transfer to a UC in a year.

I did it and was accepted at Davis. Just take mad AP classes in high school, and take an above average workload each semester of JC.

I did it but because i finished the 60 units prior to transferring. So ill be spending only 2 years at my uc. i know there are some privates that let you transfer as a sophomore though like USC

Yeah, the actual number of years/semesters at CC doesn’t matter, only the number of units does.

Assuming you have no college units, you’d need to take 6 in the first summer, 24 in the fall, 6 in the winter, and 24 in spring. Normally you need 60 by the end of spring immediately prior to admission to UC. If your CC doesn’t offer a winter intersession, you’d need to split those units among the other terms.

24 units in the Winter and Spring? Lol, I already get easily burned out from 12 units. Who the heck can do 12 units, Lol.

If you go to two CCCs at once, it’s possible to work it out so its not too bad.

I did 23 units between January and June if this year. One CCC (CCC1) offered a Winter intersession, the other didn’t (CCC2). I took one three unit class at CCC1 in the winter, which started like a week before CCC2’s spring. Took ten units during Spring at CCC2. So during the winter intersession, I was taking thirteen units at once. Had my first final after about six weeks, for just the one class.

Spring at CCC1 started, and I took 10 units there. So now I was taking twenty units at once. But Spring at CCC2 ended a few weeks before Spring at CCC1, meaning I had time to focus on finals at CCC2, before returning focus to CCC1 and preparing for finals there.

I’m a big fan of splitting coursework between CCC’s for this reason. Often your finals schedule gets staggered out a little bit, which makes it a lot nicer (and easier) during finals week.
