I am wondering if its possible to transfer to UCLA after freshman year (at another private U.)? I will not state the reason as that would just take up more of your time and its complicated.

Note: I have a pretty hefty amount of AP credit and I took 1 semester of a an intro JC class.
Don't know if that helps though?

Thanks!

To have a good shot at acceptance you should be a sophomore at a California community college or another UC. Check out the UC transfers forum for more info.

No. The UC system accepts people that qualify at either frosh or juniors. However you may have an edge if you have enough AP credit. If that, plus your 1st year at the other college, puts you at the junior level in terms of units then you could apply as a junior. And (check with the UCLA website to confirm this) but once you are admitted you could act like a sophomore since AP credit can pretty much be ignored in terms of unit deadlines (when you need to declare a major, max units you can earn as an undergrad, etc).

The bad news is that if you are NOW that unhappy freshman, its too late to apply to transfer and start at UCLA this upcoming fall.

It’s difficult, but not impossible to transfer from another UC to UCLA. It helps if the UC you are at does not have the major that you want. Does anybody remember the UCLA Juggler from a few years back?

He transferred from UCSD after his freshman year.

i have a friend who transferred after her freshman year, however she was originally admitted to ucla straight from high school so i think they handle that differently.
