I am going to a community college this fall semester, I am entering as a freshman. I had a B- average in high school and a little below average on my sat scores. Is it possible for me to transfer after one semester? Also, what colleges have a high transfer rate after only one semester?

When you can transfer varies among universities and often varies according to majors within a university. Many don’t allow transfer until after first year, or even after second year, but some take them after first semester. Thus, you need to check each university to which you would like to apply. Note that even for those that accept early transfers, it is highly likely your high school record will be an important factor considered if you try to transfer after first or even second semester freshman year.

What state do you live in?

Spring transfers are accepted to some schools, but keep in mind that financial aid usually isn’t great for transfers at any time, but especially for spring transfers.

Your high school GPA and test scores will likely matter until you have about 30-60 college credits.

If you were to apply for spring, you’d have NO college credits to show since your grades won’t be available til Dec/Jan.

If money isnt’ a problem, then there are many schools that would accept you. Find out how much your parents will pay.
