to get accepted to an Ivy-league school with a couple of high B's on your report card, sophomore year, in honors classes?

In everything else I have an A. I am not sure about what my GPA will be...last year it was over a 4.0 (i had straight A's and A+'s in honor classes) and this year since i switched schools i'm not doing as well. I currently have two B+'s...one in Honors Algebra 2 and the other in Honors Chemistry. So i'm guessing my GPA won't be as high as last years...maybe like a 3.7 or 3.8ish?

Anyway my question is, could I get accepted to the the schools i want (Brown, UPenn, etc) with a little downward trend in my sophomore year grades? I am hoping my junior and senior year will be better...hopefully all A's.

A's next year will get you back on track(wow, if that wasn't a 'duh' line I don't know what was! lol) High SATs will help too (and ACT even though I'd assume Ivies like SAT better, but a 35 or 36 could help, show that you can do good on both types of tests.) (That said, I hope your a good test taker.) Take challenging classes, but keep yout GPA in mind too since your concerned about it. Good luck!

Don't worry. GPA isn't everything. The rigor of the classes you've taken, your love for learning, your essays, your teachers' recommendations, your class rank, your scores, your ECs, your worth as a human being as demonstrated in your application materials...--those are all factors in college admissions. A couple of Bs will be entirely forgiven if you're a strong candidate everywhere but those couple of classes. :)

Plus, your junior--not sophomore--year is the most important one as far as college admission goes. Plus, adcoms will see that those Bs came with a transition to a new school and they will forgive you them even more.

Anniushka, I've seen that on many threads, you always manage to express a positive, uplifting message. Sorry if that's off-topic, I've just seen that quite a bit and thought that was really amazing.
