First, I want to transfer out of my private 4 years university because it is too expensive and I have already applied to the UCs. However, I heard tat USC gives good financial aid to freshmen but I am not sure whether will they give as much grants to transfers? It will be a waste of $$ for me to apply if the tuition is more expensive than my current university? And how's the dorm life in USC cuz I plan to stay in the dorms? I would also to experience the dorm life instead of living with my parents.

you should apply and see what you get. if you don't apply you won't even have the option so you might as well try.

What bluebeard said.

Dorm life is awesome, but I'm not entirely sure if transfers can live in dorms or not? My understanding is that they typically assign transfer students to apartments, but I may be mistaken.

I'm in the same position as you are transfergurl (transfer student).I'm not sure how much $$ they give out to transfers, I hope a good amount...

halo RijeosXeper. hehe... looks like we are in a difficult position. Until I am still pondering whether i should apply or not, even though i have completed 1/4 of the application. It will cost me about $87 (application fees plus CSS fees) to apply to USC and i m worried that the turnout might not be as optimized as i hope.

yeah the application will cost a few bucks, but there's only 1 way of finding out how much $$ they'd give me and that is by applying. I think I have a good chance at getting admitted (3.93 GPA after 3 semesters and the heaviest load, plus some good essays and solid awards/EC's), but you never know what the admission committee thinks.

I have all the application ready, I just need to get around sending it which will happen today or tomorrow the latest. But don't worry about the money, the way I see it is: I can only do my best in the essays and all of that and with my grades (thankfully i have a good GPA), so I can only apply and see what happens. I have no control over their decision and calling them 300 times a week regarding financial aid or posting in an online forum multiple times a day is not going to give me more grants/scholarships.

I'll just have to apply, risk those $90 and hopefully they'll accept me with a good package so I can attend the university. Don't stress about it, do your best to look like an attractive candidate, write some solid essays (I've spent about 2+weeks on mine lol) and pray you get it and get good $$, there's no other way to do it.

Best of luck to you
