Is it pretty much impossible to get into MIT with a 3.0?

Hey, it might be possible if you are ranked near or at the top of your class, or had an exceptional situation… But they won’t admit people who will fail their classes.

A 3.0 is a little low, but if you have some kind of extenuating circumstances, or if there’s something else about you that’s really exceptional, you still have a chance.

What is your rank? According to the common data set for MIT, if you are the low half of your graduation (top 50%+) class then u have a 0% chance of acceptance.

For comparable colleges such as Princeton, only 3% of their incoming freshman has a GPA of 3.00 to 3.24 while 0% of their class has a GPA of 2.99 and bellow.

Depends on your school and your class rank.

For example, lots of people at my school have 95%+ and only 1 person has ever went to MIT, but at my friend’s school, things are a lot more different. The most brilliant people struggle to get over an 80% (probably a 3.0 by USA standards), but about 2-3 people each year go to top tier school in the states such as MIT.
