I took a practice one and i got a 25. I've been studying an hour a day for a month now and i hope to increase it within the two months time i have left.

Anyone have a similiar situation when you DID increase your act score?

Because i want to know if it really is possible. I am aiming for a 30 to get into the university of chicago. My gpa is pretty high and i'm number 6 in my class.
I just want relief that it is possible to increase my act score up a couple notches by studying and hard work.

with amount of studying like that, anyone can raise their scores. I think people can raise their scores no matter what just by taking practice tests. Of course, the improvement varies. I remember my first practice ACT test was like a 28~29, ended up with a 32 on the real one. So yes, it is possible to increase one's act score.

the thing with the act though is that you can't superscore (almost always) and your scores in the individual sections can fluctuate a lot.

so you need everything to be perfect in order to do well on the test.

for me science fluctuates between 28-31 and reading fluctuates between 30-34.

yeah it's possible but you'll need luck

Of course you can raise it! Keep at your prep and you should see results. The ACT is less tricky than the SAT so if you get really comfortable with it, you can definitely do better.

i have a friend who went:

28, 28, 29, 30, 32

I got a 24 on the practice test, took the test and got a 28... took it a couple months later with no preparation and got a 31. Just don't stress and relax! Good Luck!

Oh, also, I have a friend who went 24, 25, 27, 29 with no preparation.

In general people score better from one year to the next just by going to school and being more experienced wheather they prep or not.
