Well I've read on fastweb.com that it's extremely hard to get into USC, and then I heard from my friends that it's not that hard. Well anyways, what do you guys think about my chances? Here are my stats...again

Thinking of majoring in engineering

(1) No, they have no nursing program--they do have a school of dentistry, a school of preventative medicine, and a program on geronotology, however.

(2) You need to take courses in 4 general ed areas (there are six areas, but two of these courses have to be taken at USC) and an english writing course (this is in addition to any english composition course). Also, some schools have their own prerequisites--like for business, you have to take two econ, one calculus, one statistics, and one accounting course

(3) Average GPA for acceptance at USC last year as a transfer was 3.7. I'm guessing it was about the same this year. Since all programs there are competitive, the GPA is almost the same for all programs.

As far as the original poster's chances:

You are borderline or slightly below borderline (note the average acceptance of transfers is above your UW GPA--and they are taking college courses), but your hispanic background and good extracurriculars might get you in. Engineering is probably one of the two toughest schools to get into, however (the other being Cinema-TV production), and if you apply for that major I would not expect you would not be admitted unless you could write a great essay, have wonderful (even magnificent) recommendations, and can show some leadership potential by getting elected to some top positions in student government or your clubs--or do something dramatic this summer to show your potential.

Good luck to both of you. (jesper909 and sfboy987)

im trying to major in biochemistry.... but im not looking to deep into that i just wanna get accepted into usc first, because that has been my dream school and i have family members that attend ucla and i just wanna take a different direction....

Hey, i really need you guys’ help. I’m an Indian student who grew up in Ecuador, South America. I’m in my senior year and applying to colleges right now and USC is a school i really want to go to. I screwed up my grades in 9th and 10th grade and got like a 2.77 GPA for those two years. My GPA for 11th and 12th grade is 3.8 and will probably increase more with this semester’s grades. My cumulative GPA comes out to like 3.1 or a bit more.
My SAT I: 2000
Subject tests i haven’t recieved my scores but i’m sure to get an 800 in the SPanish language and I’m pretty sure I’ll do well on the Math 1 subject test. I also skipped 7th grade and all these details would be included in my application to USC. I’m not looking for a scholarship, I just want to go to USC. Please be honest with me I don’t care if it’s too harsh… Do I have any chance of getting in? (My GPa is my biggest concern)
