Hey, I'm a high school junior in Northern California, I was wondering just HOW hard it is to get into USC...

They have so many options, but I think I'm interested in their film program. I understand it's super competitive, but my high school specializes in film and has their own state film festival. Many of our students have went on to do great things.

I go to a CA Distiguished High School, and we're also a Blue Ribbon school. I have a 4.33 GPA and I plan on taking the ACT in June. Any advice?
I love USC and I think it's such an amazing school!

From the trends I've seen, USC likes SAT scores a lot better than GPA. I would say a 3.7-3.8 unweighted and a 2000+ SAT (2100 is optimal) should give you a good shot. Oh, and of course the basics of extracurriculars, leaderships, etc. USC has a 20-25% acceptance overall.

^ Their film school is considerably more selective, though. Like, I'm guessing < 5%
You probably should submit an artistic supplement (a film project or something).

All of this is hearsay and speculation on my part, though haha

I don't know how they select for the film program but most of the kids who are in it demonstrate a great passion for film, so if you're interested, make sure you show that in your application.

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm a pretty creative person, I was actually a competitive dancer for 11 years until I quit to focus more on school this year. I also started a recycling program at my school that raised money to build what used to be a non existent library. I have good grades and I'm working on the test thing...

I don't know if anyone's heard of it, but I go to a high school that specializes in visual media arts. We have our own Buckingham Independent Film Festival!! It's pretty cool. I really love USC...I'm going to visit in April. I just hope they're willing to accept someone who has passion and potential.
