Would it be really inconsiderate for me to email my teacher to ask if he's gotten the chance to send my rec yet? I'd ask in person but I just got my tracking # for my ED school today (how I know he hasn't sent it), and we don't have school tomorrow...I want to give him the day off to write if necessary. Would that be really rude of me?

The deadline is the 15th so I'm running out of time.

I don't think that's rude at all! Just be courteous, respectful, the usual. Also thank him or her for doing this for you/gently remind them it's due by _____. I think it's an assertive move, not a rude one. Good luck.

If you don't think he/she will finish on time, email the college admissions office and ask them about late recs. I did, and they told me that most applications are complete within 2 weeks after the deadline.

I think emailing your teacher would actually show that you're responsible and want to see your application through. Just remember to thank him/her. =]
