Is it safe to be on first floor @ ME?

Is is fairly safe if I am on the first floor of ME? Other than the usual precautions (lock windows and doors), is there anything else to be aware of or to do?

Irvine is the safest city in America. And a police station is right next to ME. Though there was a shooting at UCI yesterday…

Just watch out from the bugs and flying insects from the bushes. They could somehow find an opening from the mesh of the windows. Some of the them isn’t well shut to keep insects away. I suggest getting blue tape in case you get those kinds of ■■■■■■■■ mesh windows to block off their entrance.

Although Irvine is the safest it does not mean its crime-free. Just be alert.

First floor is safe, If you have valuables , just hide them/close blinds and you will be fine. Irvine is a VERY safe city. There’s literally one ‘big’ crime a year (i.e. mistaken gun man on campus)

The gun man situation was super funny (scary at first). Turned out to be a guy with an airsoft gun!!!

Anyway, you don’t have to worry too much about crimes just because you’re on the first floor (honestly if there’s gonna be a big crime it’ll be more than just your floor). But you should make sure your things are put away in safe areas (consider getting a safe?) if you or your roommate(s) want to keep the door open (make more friends that way). My room was open alllllll the time (I was on the third floor though) but I never had anything stolen. Still, it never hurts to be careful.

i’m pretty much repeating what everyone else is saying, but: if nobody is in the room, make sure you shut the window. i think it’s fairly easy to pop out the screen and enter a room (some students would do it if they were locked out). keep valuables out of sight
