Is it safe to lie about extracurriculars?

How about you take responsibility for having a suck gpa and not trying hard enough... apply to schools that fit your level. I already dislike when people do extra curriculars for the sake of putting it on there application, this is on the next next level. I hope you get caught.

^And you are useless, seeing as that was already posted 1000 other ways.

In all seriousness, I guess it's not even worth it though since those EC's might seem desperate afterall. I wonder if my friend will get caught now by the internet police... lol

It's a shame that you're not already out of school and in the workplace. If the last five years have taught us anything, it's that there are plenty of great opportunities for those with no moral character to get ahead in American business. And who cares what the consequences are? So what if hard working employees lose their jobs because of CEO's that steal their companies blind? Who cares if investors lose their life savings because they invested with a fraud like Madoff? Who cares if someone loses their home because they were "qualified" for a mortgage that they couldn't afford? Surely it doesn't matter if the CEO's, the Madoffs, the brokers and the banks all get ahead and get rich, now does it? By the way, OP, you're an idiot and a disgusting human being. If you were an associate in my law firm, you would be fired, and quickly, and deservedly so.

I'd rather get into college knowing that I got in and deserved it. Lying on your application and getting in is like being accepted as someone you're not.

gbesq - you are the ugly, stupid, and downright judgmental person. All I asked was a small simple question, yet you are so quick to judge when that has nothing to do with anything? Based on your first sentence, you already prove you know nothing about me. Stop spamming up my topic with your nasty trite.

^OP, these are your words, are they not? I stand by my comments. Character matters. It's as simple as that.

It's true that I don't care. I've dealt viewpoints like yours all my life. I just felt like calling you out on it since... you judging me shouldn't have a place here. It's irrelevant.

^You're right, my comments are irrelevant. If you rise to any position of real responsibility, however, and maintain the lack of ethical standards that your post evidences, it won't be irrelevant, as many who have gone before you have discovered. Good luck in prison.

^
He's not going to prison for lying about his ECs...

^Nope, he or she is not. And that's not what I'm saying. Read his/her earlier comments. If you carry that attitude into a business or profession, chances are good that you're going to end up fired, without your professional license or worse. That's what I'm saying.

whats with all these people saying "you can exaggerate"? yes i know people do, but that is still NOT right

i dunno about the CSU system, but the UCs have randomly asked people at my school to send in verification for the things they've claimed on their app.

im not sure how many people are being asked, but 2 of them, at least, are my friends.

gbesq - I don't carry that attitude with my superiors face to face. I am respectful and try to please. When I have to, I jump over others or take desperate measures. I'm a different type of smart. As far as I'm concerned, the haters can suck it.

EliteNemesis - thank you for your imput.

Alright, enough is enough. Question answered, plus with a little searching I just found a similar topic already. sigh

"If you carry that attitude into a business or profession, chances are good that you're going to end up fired, without your professional license or worse."

gbesq is quite wise- you should probably listen and stop trying to justify your mindless intentions.

"I'm a different type of smart. As far as I'm concerned, the haters can suck it"

The type that lies to get what they want? Hm. I am guessing you are a fan of Madoff?

Calm down... and stop being so damn defensive. You knew you were going to be criticized when you brought up this controversial topic, and your callous attitude is obviously causing friction... You chose to start the thread, asking for opinions, and not all of them are going to be what you want to hear.

If you can pull a huge one over on the system then more power to you.

Sacramento State uses an eligibility index for admissions. ECs are not considered.
First-time Freshman - OAR - Sac State
This poster invented this situation. Regardless, making up ECs will not help Sac State admissions, and as they do not consider ECs, they will not "check" them.

^^^^^^^
Research ftw.

swirlygirl has a strong post.

shes completely right.

To the OP: Sit down and think hard about what you DID spend your time doing the last few years; write about those activities in an appealing way. Did you go to a movie every week with your friends? Write about your informal movie club with group discussion afterwards.....
Also-- I don't want to encourage making up ecs, but the idea that colleges share info on ec exageration is silly. The only info that is shared in the ED list.
