I am going to have a night class that ends at 9 pm and I will be living off-campus. However, my apartment is only a 15 minute walk from that class. Will I be safe walking around campus that late?
Unfortunately, there is always some risk moving around any college campus at night, and especially off-campus. There is a large population of students at Texas A&M however, so there will be no shortage of students out and about after 9:00 PM, as there are multiple classes that get out at that time. At night it is ideal to travel in groups.
If you ever find yourself worried about your safety when walking home:
“The Guard Room provides a free Corps escort service from 5pm to 7am. By calling the Guard Room at 979-845-6789, a Corps member will meet the person requesting the escort and walk with him/her to most on-campus locations.”
I’ve been on campus at like 2-3am and there were still a decent amount of students walking around. Off campus may be a little less safe, but I still think you’ll be at a bigger risk of getting hit by a car in College Station than attacked.
There are A&M buses that travel to some off-campus locations. Check to see if a bus runs near your apartment.
