Well, I was luckily accepted to Chicago...congrats to everyone that was accepted, and I'm really interested in going. However, my parents are really worried about Chicago's location...hyde park, south side? Is the campus (and area) safe? And is there really that need to worry, or are my parents just freaking out about me going so far away? Thanks!

I'm from Chicago so I fill qualofoed to answer. Chicago is a major city so there will of course be crime but Hyde Park is not really known for being a bad area. And as long as you're not doing stupid things I'm sure you'll be fine.

i heard for first years, watch out from housing at BJ. that housing complex is right next to a really bad street in chicago. so if ur a first year, and ur trying to find your way to get to class, but you take a wrong turn...

or mebe its upperclassmen trying to keep the best housing complex to themselves?
