Is it smart to apply as UNDECLARED for CSU?

Hi, I'm currently a senior in high school aiming to get into either CAL STATE LONG BEACH or CAL STATE FULLERTON. I'm currently working on the apps, but some people are telling me NOT to go under as undeclared due to the decrease in acceptance for CSU these days. They told me to pick a non impacted major instead for a better chance of being accepted & switch to a major I really prefer after the GE's.

Which way is smarter? Undeclared? or Non impacted major? And if non impacted, which is the most non impacted major out there in Cal states?

(if needed to know, my unweighted GPA is 3.5, my SAT is pretty low, assuming I'm getting around 1450-1470, and my class rank is 63 out of 507, estimating about top 12%. And I live near fullerton area)

anybodyy? :(

I think you should apply to a major you are interested in, because I don’t assume it will be any to switch. Maybe you can put undeclared as your second choice where they will consider it. You are in the Fullerton service area? Do you know your admission index?

Well, there’s no problem with switching out of your major choice that you choose for application. You can switch after you finish college general ed classes, so there’s no issue with that thankfully. I would apply for a major I’m interested in, which is either accounting or nursing, but they are way too far impacted in the CSU and I’ll probably be rejected among hundreds of others so I’m trying to go under undeclared or pick a non impacted major.

And I’m not really IN the fullerton service area I believe. I’m just near the area :P
