Is it still possible for me to get into a top school?

I have a low GPA, its around a b- or b. Freshman year, I did well with all b's and a's, Sophmore year, I slacked of earning a few c's and b's and a's. This year, Im not doing that well also, I have 3 a's and 3 b's and i have 2 c's so far for the year. I am Indian, so my parents are all over me and kind of gave up. I mean for the past years it has been all about having fun and now when senoir year is hitting, I'm starting to get nervous. Im not a dumb kid, I scored fairly well on the psats and got a 2050 on the one of the practice tests for the SAT's and Im taking them again hoping to do better when I take the real ones this June.

SO all in all, Im basically screwed for college admissions and was looking at NYU or Rutgers. I know its like going to be impossible to get in with the Gpa that I have know and was wondering if online classes will help my GPA so that I won't have to worry about getting into a top college. I've seen people take them before but they didn't tell me if there GPA went up. And also do colleges look down towards online classes?

What’s your actual weighted and unwatied gpa? If the weighted is above 3.5 and you have other ECs, sports etc. its possible to get into a good school but not the top.

Sadly, your freshman year grades won’t count as much and you’re showing a downward trend.

I don’t believe online classes count towards your school GPA (you would have to ask your counselor on that). Some schools allow community college courses to be added onto transcripts and some don’t so I would ask your counselor.

If you are allowed to take CC courses for a gpa boost, be sure to take a few during the summer. It isn’t much but it can boost your GPA up .1 or .2.

I’m not sure about Rutgers but as far as NYU goes, your current GPA and projected SAT score won’t cut it.

Yea if you gave an actual GPA number, it would be more helpful. Each school’s system is different, so I don’t know about yours. However, you should look to bring it up as much as you can by the end of the year and the first half of next year. If you show a good improvement, it will certainly help.
