IS it still possible for me to receive aid for spring 2008?

I need to somehow get finanical aid for upcoming spring quarter (2008). But Im not sure if Ive screwed up bigtime on the deadlines. Because I never submitted a fasfa for 2007-2008.

So as i undersand it, if I wanted aid for anytime from sept 2007 - jun 2008 (fall, winter and spring quarters) I should have submitted a fafsa by jan 2007 --is that right?
If yes, then do I have any options at all available to me to somehow get aid for spring quarter?
I did receiev aid during summer quarter, (2007) --so does that mean that that would have been from my 2006-2007 fafsa?

Also, just want to make sure i understand this right, --when I submit a fafsa by jan 2008, that would be for receiving aid from sept 2008 through jun 2009 - right? (so, useless when it comes to spring quarter 2008)

thanks for any clarification

You need to talk to your school's financial aid office, pronto. No one here can tell you what they will or will not allow.

January 2007 was the first time that the 2007-2008 FAFSA was available, not necessarily when it was due. Most schools had a February-March deadline for 2007-2008.

Generally, yes, the FAFSA that's available in January 2008 is for the 2008-2009 school year. Again, it's not due then - for returning students it may not be due until April - but it becomes available then.

Again, only the Financial Aid office at your school can tell you what you need to do, based on your discussions and the paperwork they already have (which allowed them to give you aid for summer 2007).

Chedva is correct -- you need to check with your school.

What I will tell you is that there is no "deadline" for submitting the FAFSA other than a date that the school would like you to have it in by -- however, the FAFSA only qualifies you for certain federal monies.

What this means is that if you file FAFSA today (and you can do that) for financial aid for Spring 2008, then you might be qualified for a pell grant and subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford Loans. Other monies (like institutional grant money, SEOG, state grants, etc) are generally distributed early on in the year -- that is the money you can get if you file the FAFSA early.

schools do not "run out of" or have limited amounts of pell grant monies or Stafford loan monies -- but all other funding is limited and therefore usually gone by this late in the year.
