So, I am currently doing my Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems before I transfer, which is a Business major. I want to get a BA in Computer Science though. The school counselor said I’d be transferring as a CIS student not a CS and that I can’t transfer as CS. So, I wanted to know if it was still possible to major in Computer Science at an University, for example, if I double major in CS and CIS. They are completely different majors, one is Business and the other is STEM. I don’t have all the requirements for Computer Science to transfer though.
It isn’t a question of transferring as an ‘X’ major or a ‘Y’ major. You’ll have particular earned credits from the institution granting you an associate degree, and then the institution that accepts you for a BA will determine which of those credits it will accept to fulfill its own requirements for their BA and the major you choose. This may vary from school to school so make sure you know before enrolling.
