Is it stupid or perhaps too early for me to consider transferring?

I go to a top school, and I'm thinking of transferring already. I think I may want to transfer just because I have no friends and I don't fit in very well. The school I'm considering transferring to is not a particularly good school. In fact, its a tier 2/3 state school... entirely non-prestigious. My best friends go there though, it's significantly closer to home, my sister is going there next year and I think it'd be a lot more fun. I know that fun isn't the point of college, but it does matter to me. The only parties at my school are on Fridays and Saturdays (which are predominantly private parties for athletics teams), we don't have a "real" athletics program and people don't do anything but study during the week. I don't want to limit my career opportunities by transferring, but at the same time I don't want to go to a school where I have no friends and don't fit in. I'm pre-law if that affects anything.

If I'm not happy at my school, should I consider transferring to another equally prestigious school possibly, or does prestige not matter significantly so far as pre-law goes?

Yes, it’s too early.

i think give it some time. I was thinking about it too, but there has to be a reason you chose this school, I’m sure it wasn’t an easy choice to make in April. I say give it at least one year w/o even thinking of transferring, and enjoy all your school has to offer

You’ve been there for how long? 30 days? Yes, it’s too soon.

It is too soon. You need to work at it a bit – by that I mean become active in clubs and look for activities that are interesting to you --you just may meet some people you “fit in” with. It is not at all unusual for it to take a while to settle into a school.
