I’m a junior in HS and was wondering if it’s too early to work on common app ? I’m worried because all of the colleges I selected on common app have no deadlines/dates out and am scared that if I type in my essay responses they’ll switch prompts once colleges have an actual deadline.
As another rising senior, I talked to my counselor about this. The Common App for the Class of 2019 opens up in early August of this year. That means that starting then, you can start working on it and then send out those applications.
I answered the same question when you asked it here: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/21565958#Comment_21565958
In short, you can’t submit before the August 1 opening date for the Common App. But the essay prompts have been out since January and won’t change for next year’s application cycle. You can, and should, begin over the summer.
In addition to working on your essay, build a list of all your activities and accomplishments since 9th grade. They want a short description, and I think weeks per year & hours/week (which is always challenging, just average/guess).
The CA prompts are the same as last year. You can start working on that now, as well as the activities list and awards list. You should be able to start the app and roll it ove after Aug 1 if you want to.
Just do the work in a Word or similar document. You can cut and paste later. The essay prompts for the Common App should be out. It is the individual college ones some colleges require that might change.
