I submitted my GA Tech app on the 31st.. as did a friend of mine. She got a PSP semi-finalist notification yesterday. I have heard nothing and my tracking still says "In Process".. I'm really nervous now.

Now, by no means are these things ever sure.. but I had a lot of confidence in my application: I've had straight A's in lots of AP classes, high SATs, and I thought pretty good essays. I'm an eagle scout and do pretty good ECs. On all objective standards, my stats are superior to hers and having read her essays.. I thought mine as good if not better... I don't understand why she would get it and I not. I mean, I am truly happy for her.. I just want some good news too :-(

Anyway, do you think that by this point its unlikely to receive notification by next Saturday? Should I inquire to make sure my application doesn't have a problem?

I'm pretty much sick with worry. I mean GA Tech is a great school.. but I mean, if I can't easily become a semifinalist for the PSP .. I have no chance at getting into MIT early (which I want even more .. but expect much less). I'm worried I have no future

D's profile switched from In Process last Thurs to Application Complete Fri Morning. PSP packet was receied in the mail the same day. Still haven't received the Yellow Jacket envelope with the acceptance letter from the GT. Must be the X-mas mail.

The revised process indicates that they will be making their selections by Dec. 15 which is Saturday. My guess is that the final letters will be mailed on Friday the 14th and depending on where you live you will hear later the next week.

She may have heard earlier because there are fewer female applicants and the Semifinalists are distributed evenly between M&F In-state and M&F OOS.

Do you have a link or reference for the gender split? I've only seen that for the actual enrollees (on www.irp.gatech.edu), and it's not exact, just roughly 50/50. I think the gender split is typically more like ~40% women at the semifinalist stage.

Mail arrived today and although D received the PSP packet, she has not received the admissions packet. I called the admissions office to enquire about this and they said that the student can be a PSP Semi-Finalist and still not yet be admitted! Admissions decisions are done separately. I asked about the PSP flowchard and was told it was wrong.

Is it possible that your daughter has been admitted, but the PS packet got out the door before the Admissions packet? It doesn't make sense to make someone a semifinalist if they aren't admitted. You should call the PS office for clarification.

Well ... no mail yet .. but my App Status flipped to "Application Complete" on the tracker. So, hopefully good news is on the way.

Now, I just have to wait for Saturday's MIT decisions. If that doesn't work out though, at least I now appear to still have a great school to go to!! (despite statments to the contrary .. if I get a PSP notification .. I'll assume I'm in)

Also, @ UnivMom.. I'd assume if her application is complete (on the admissions office's system), she must be in. Also, my gf has already recieved a PSP letter but no acceptance packet.. so your daughter isn't alone. (except on the off chance that unbeknownst to us both, I'm dating your daughter!! :-P )

No. I don't think you are dating my daughter. Where do you live?
I think the AdComms are all scrambling for the Dec 15th deadlines. Maybe he was in a bad mood. Flow chart on the process says all PSPs are in. :D

Is MIT posting on Saturday? Stanford is posting on Friday at 3pm Pacific.

My status just went from "In Process" to "Application Complete" either today or yesterday. Does anyone know about how much time it will take before I get my admissions decision in the mail? I can't figure out if the new status means they've made a decision or just that they have all my paperwork together...

D received her PSP package 2 days after the status flipped. She finally received acceptance package yesterday a week after PSP. I think the offices are so busy right now that things are not getting out in the mail.

I recieved my PSP notification, by the way ^_^. Now I am just waiting for MIT.. but like I said, at least now I know that even without MIT, I'll still have a great option.

Good luck to everyone in all their decisions to come
