I am an international student and have applied to UK to do undergraduate degree law, starting this october (2011). However, due to some reasons, I now have to go to US but the problem is I never took any SAT up to this stage or applied to any US schools at all. ( I do not want to take a gap year. I really want to enter college straight after high school)

My final exams are done and my summer literally begins now. I am wondering, if I begin to take SATS asap and complete all the application essays, together with my reasons, exam grades, reference etc, then email colleges to consider my application for 2011 entry, will I be considered?

I know its impossible to even think about top tier schools at this stage, however if I apply to colleges like Occidental ( i know its highly regarded too), will I stand a chance, even it is well past the deadline which is like January?

PS
-I have quite good extra curricular activities and community involvement. I also have good college grades and predicted IB grades, and also a fairly good reference which earned me offers from several good UK universities.
- I dont have to do law

Or is this totally unfeasible? :( thanks for your help in advance!

Some colleges will take applications through the summer or allow you to enroll at any time, true, but if you’re looking at anywhere halfway decent, you’re generally looking at next year.

If you will need a student visa, it will be almost impossible to be admitted for this fall because each step in the process takes a certain amount of time. If you are coming to the US with your family, and you will have a different visa status that will permit you to study here, you may still have time to make arrangements.

In your other thread, you wrote that you are currently studying law in the UK. What exactly is your situation? If you are at university now, you would need to apply as a transfer student for most colleges and universities in the US. You would have to get in touch with each of the ones that were interesting to you, and ask them about your specific situation. An international transfer who only begins the application process in May will not be very likely to get in for the fall. You should seriously consider taking a gap year, or making arrangements to complete that law degree in the UK.

If you still feel that you must come to the US this year, and begin studies this fall, first get in touch with the staff at the closest office of EducationUSA [EducationUSA - Find an Advising Center](http://www.educationusa.info/centers.php) They have dealt with students in your situation before, and they can help you determine whether or not it is possible.

Hello.
Do you know what universities offer that? Or where can I find a list that shows all the colleges that take in applications all year?

I don’t really have a tight budget. But I only hope to get my money’s worth of education, that’s all (hence, no $$ fee for crappy schools lol, if you get what i mean)

Hi Happymomof1
My exact situation is the one I portrayed in THIS post. The other post is just a scenario when I only transfer after year 1, which I imagined would be my alternative if I fail to go to US this year. (sorry for the confusion)

I will contact the advisor on the site youve given me. Thanks for your help !

Well SATs are over until October so that kind of kills your chances for a lot of schools. What you can do is take summer classes at any university around you. Many colleges will allow you to enroll in summer classes for full credit without actually matriculating (although some form of application is required). Then you can take the SATs in the fall, and apply for the Spring semester perhaps. You could still accumulate a lot of credits with summer classes so you wont be falling behind.

It all depends on exactly where in the U.S. you are, and the colleges around you.

Many colleges and universities are still accepting applications for the fall. The limitation for ladyliberty is his/her visa status. If he/she needs an F-1, there may not be enough time to apply and get through all of the paperwork before classes this fall. If he/she will be in the US with a different visa status that allows him/her to study, then there is time to apply.

In addition to the many community colleges around the country that accept applications up through the end of the first week of classes, ladyliberty (and anyone else still looking for a place for this fall) can check the lists at:
