I decided to apply to UT Austin yesterday and I know I can get the online application in by the deadline (Dec 1) but on their website it says that all documents must be at their offices by the deadline, not even postmarked by the deadline! I will have to send in my transcript and SAT scores so is it not worth it to apply because they won't have those documents by tomorrow?? I don't know if I should spend all the money and then not even have a chance at admission!

Unfortunately, they do in fact need everything in their deadline and filed. Unless you can get access to a UT application dropoff, which are occurring today in cities in TX, NYC and maybe some other areas, you won’t have time.

Look on their website for drop off locations and call the office just to check with them. If you can get to a drop off area then they will count everything as on the deadline

If you are in the state of Texas and near a major city (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio) you can go to an application round up and turn in all documents. If not, they will not accept late documents. They have a deadline for a reason and I have not heard of any college being flexible about deadlines in general.

What if you have everything turned in except for an official SAT score report that is 1-2 days late? Exception???

I think I remember them mentioning that SAT/ACT scores are dealt with differently

OMG, blutz if what you’re saying is true…i love you. lol
But, really, are you sure?

From the UT.EDU website:

"If you are applying for summer/fall admission, you may send us December test scores from your senior year to complete your application. If you do so:

Official test scores from December of your senior year must arrive in the Office of Admissions by December 31.
SAT & ACT: Only December test scores from your senior year are accepted until December 31. If you submit SAT or ACT scores from any other test date, they must arrive by the deadline.
ALEKS: Applicants to engineering may also submit senior-year December test scores for ALEKS to meet the calculus readiness requirement.
All other items needed for a complete application must be on time."

=( that sucks about the SAT, looks like I’m gonna have to take the December SAT now. I filed a request for an electronic score report to be sent on the 23rd and it looks like college board is either too lazy or too dumb to push a few kilobytes of data to UT Austin admissions. Needless to say, I’m very annoyed with their subpar service. If I didn’t know better I would almost expect that they hadn’t sent it yet on purpose just to force me to take the December SAT and get more of my money.
