I think I might apply to Brown, but I just feel like it would be irresponsible to ask teachers to fill out another recommendation form so late in the process (Brown doesn't accept the common application). What do you guys think?

a kid from my school just asked a teacher for a recommendation to brown this week. i think you'd be okay, but don't pressure the teacher into doing it. you might have to ask a couple of teachers before you find one who can fill out your teacher rec form in 2-3 weeks.

How many weeks do you have in school before Christmas break? I have heard 2 weeks is the minimum acceptable window for getting recs. I am in the same situation somewhat.

17 days... one of my teachers would have already written a rec for the common app, but I'd be asking another, different teacher for one, so I kinda feel bad...

remember to give your teachers gifts or something as a thanks for doing your rec. if you ask a teacher this late and he/she does it, he/she deserves a pretty nice gift.

It isn't a great situation, but it isn't too late either. If you were to ask someone who has already written another recommendation for you, then all he/she would have to do is print it out a second time, so that would be very straightforward and low-stress. Why can't you use the recommenders who wrote for you on the other applications?
