I was going to apply to MIT, but yesterday I decided that I don't want to go there anymore. My teacher has already sent my official transcript, however. Can I still back out or do I still have to apply there?

You don’t have to apply

You can withdraw application anytime before being accepted. In your case you have not yet even applied to MIT. and there is nothing to withdraw; the sending of the transcript does not result in a completed application. You have the option to do nothing or send the admissions office a courtesy letter noting that a transcript had been sent but that you do not intend to apply.
