Is it too late to get into San Jacinto?

I'm going to be a freshman at UT @ Austin in the fall semester of 2014/spring semester of 2015. I put in my housing application today and am waiting on a contract.
Is it too late for me to get into San Jac? I understand that it's nearly everyone's first choice because of how nice it is, but I favor it because of the convenience, for I am majoring in fine arts.
I REALLY hope I get into this residence hall, but do you think it's too late?

You will probably get more responses on the UT-Austin forum (under College and Universities forums). I’m not the most knowledgeable but my guess is yes, it’s probably too late to get into San Jac. Keep in mind that priority for dorm choice is determined by date of housing application, and that it’s possible to submit a housing application as soon as you submit your application to UT. You don’t have to wait until you are accepted or until you decide on UT to submit a housing application. That means there are lots of people in front of you in the “queue” for dorm preference because they may have submitted their housing application back in August/September. You might want to ask someone more knowledgeable whether there’s a way around that if you have a roommate who has an earlier application date. That is, if you know who your roommate will be, and that person submitted their housing application contract earlier, it may be that your priority will be determined by their application date instead of yours. I don’t know if that’s how UT housing works, though. We submitted a housing contract for D when we submitted her UT application in November, but she’s got a spot at SRD so won’t be staying in a UT dorm. If she had, though, her first choice was San Jac as well.

Sorry, I’m new to the board and didn’t know how it works. Thanks for the help!
