Is it too late to notify Vandy about an award?

Hi,

I was wondering if it is too late now to let UVA know about any awards won during senior year. If it isn't, how can I inform them ASAP? It isn't a incredible award like ISEF or something, but it's notable because it's a state level award, in which my team won a trip to China. So how can I let them know if there is still time? Also, what do I write/type in the letter? Do I just state the name of the contest won, description, what we won, or what?

So, I take it you applied to UVA as well as Vanderbilt?

Congratulations, and have a great trip to China. My guess is it is too late. If you do send anything, I think postal mail would be a mistake. Perhaps type up a quick note with just the essentials and fax it. Immediately.

ahh sorry. I copied and pasted from UVA. But yeah I applied there as well haha.

I would say have your guidance counselor give a call because it really is late to send more paper to your application folder and I highly doubt that it will have much influence on your overall admission decision.

It is pretty late, I wouldn't be surprised if the decisions are already made. But, if I were you I would still try to notify the admissions office. It's better to try, than not, because if it were me and I did not notify them of an award and I was rejected I would always wonder if that one award would have made a difference.

just do it. i suggest email. it can't hurt

Make sure you don't mix up UVA and Vanderbilt this time or it might actually change your decision...lol
JK but seriously..

^^^ha. good point. It has probably happened in the past.

Maybe you should figure out who your admissions counselor is by going to Vandy's site and then email him/her the new info.
