My S took a calculus class at the local state university and this was mentioned in the common App that he was taking that class. He took the final yesterday and got a A. The colleges he has applied EA have not yet announced their EA results. At this stage (given that decisions will be coming out within the next 1-4 days), does it make any sense to send an e-mail with this update. It is too late to send transcripts.

Absolutely, send them an email. It can’t hurt. Then have the offical transcript sent as soon as possible.

Geez, it really, absolutely is TOO LATE! Here’s what you can do with that bit of good news: share it if he is deferred. But, if you think they’ll change their mind over one class and one grade at this late stage, then you’ll just annoy the adcoms. They’ve been working the numbers, balancing the class, and getting set to announce. Respect them by waiting.

Glad he did so well.

^^^^

Agreed.

Thanks for the advice. The reason I was thinking about this was the fact that it was advanced calculus (200 level class) but I had the same concerns mentioned by limabeans. The high school GC also said the same thing, wait till you hear from them as her experience was any e-mails sent at this stage either got lost or were not read in time. Also one of the universities he was considering is ready to announce any moment now. So we will wait.
